2009-2010 Jackson Area Catholic Schools Bus Transportation
Each year, Lumen Christi Catholic High School coordinates the bus transportation for Jackson Area Catholic schools. In order to meet the needs of our area schools, this effort is coordinated with student enrollment, which begins in March for all grade levels.
Currently, Lumen Christi has four bus runs: the Grass Lake/East Jackson/Napoleon/Michigan Center run; the St. Rita/Clarklake/Vandercook Lake run; the Western/Concord/Spring Arbor/Albion run; and the Hanover-Horton/Lake LeAnn run. All runs service Lumen Christi, our Catholic elementary schools, and Jackson Catholic Middle School.
Transportation registration provides us valuable information that helps us determine transportation needs and routes. If enough families express a need for transportation form an area not already included in a run, adjustments will be made. Consideration will be given to requests for route adjustments, however, all adjustments made are at the discretion of the Transportation Director.
Early registration or intent to ride can be made through June 30, 2009, at the Main Office located at Lumen Christi Catholic High School. After June 30, transportation rates will increase to include a late registration payment fee. We will announce our bus schedule in early August and will begin running buses the first day of school. Bus transportation to Lumen Christi is available for students living in the Jackson Public School District through the district’s transportation department at no charge. If you choose to ride a Lumen Christi bus, Area 1 rate applies.
Students living in the Western School District will be transported by their school district bus at no charge, where they will be picked up by a Lumen Christi bus. For Lumen Christi connecting transportation, Area 2 rate applies. Students requesting morning transportation, who reside in the Northwest School District, will be transported to Jackson Catholic Middle School by a Northwest bus, where they will connect with a Lumen Christi bus for transportation to any other Jackson Area Catholic School. Afternoon drop off for the Northwest School District is at Parnall Elementary. At Parnall, students connect with their assigned Northwest bus that will transport them home.

These bus rates have been maintained for the past severl years. *Rate is bases on early registration or intent to ride on or before June 30, 2009. Fees are based on morning and afternoon transportation. Our fees ensure bus transportation for the school year. However, if a student needs transportation only one way, morning or afternoon, rate is 50% of full rate. Due to the complexity of scheduling, we do not accommodate partial payments due to varied student activities or schedules. To assist families, we have capped our bus registration fee at $715. Your registration form, with payment, may be dropped off at the Main Office or mailed to Lumen Christi Catholic High School to the attention of Bus Transportation.
